How to turn your balcony into a chilling corner
For most apartment owners
and renters, the fastest way to step outside to enjoy the fresh air is to visit the
balcony. While a balcony is an incredible and convenient amenity for your
living space, chances are that you are not using it to the fullest potential.
If you are lucky enough to have a balcony and live in the city, we hope these
ideas help you realize that you can do so much more than place a lawn chair and
a rug and call it a day.
1.Make it comfy with water hyacinth cushions
Even
though the best part of a balcony is to soak in the views, there is nothing
wrong with lounging around with a great book and a cup of your favorite drink.
While we usually look up for inspiration, this idea is all about the ground. Incorporate
bean bags and pillow sets into your balcony to create a social and chilled out
vibe.
2.Maximize Space with Folding Furniture
A couple of chairs and a small folding table are typically enough to make a small balcony feel like an integral part of the house. Position these in a way that makes the most sense in your case. If the balcony has a nice view then it would be cool to be able to enjoy it while sitting down. On the other hand, if you want more privacy from the neighbors, have the chairs facing the interior wall.
3.Lighting your balcony with lanterns and
lampshades
Adding some light can
make your balcony more festive. If you are a nature lover, you can choose some
bamboo and rattan lampshades or lanterns with unique designs and different
sizes which create a warm and chilling atmosphere to your balcony.
4.Make it Roomy with an Outdoor Rug
Whether indoor or outdoor, seagrass and water hyacinth rugs have a magical way of generating more visual space. The bigger the rug,
the better the cover. We recommend covering as much space as you can but make
sure to use an outdoor rug designed to outlast the weather.
5.Drift Away in a Hammock or Hanging Chair
Hammock chairs can be hung on balconies. This is
likely the most fun addition you could possibly install.
If hammocks aren't your thing, hanging chairs give a similar effect and can actually be very stylish. Try draping a sheepskin over yours.
6.Add greenery to your balcony
A balcony garden, once
it’s fully blooming, can obscure much of your small outdoors. The shield
created by greenery establishes a more intimate and secure space, giving you
privacy among the big apartment complexes.
A minimalist balcony
garden is a great addition to any modern apartment that wishes to feature a few
natural elements as well. If you want to keep the space open and roomy, arrange
the potted plants near the railing!
